R Fund is proud to announce the launch of a revitalized fundraising campaign focused on growing the donor base in support of the Scarlet Knights' operating budget.
The campaign, titled "The Bells Must Ring," is predicated on Rutgers Nation directly impacting student-athlete success "On the Banks" through strength in numbers. Whereas fundraising dollars will remain integral in R Fund's efforts, the campaign's focus will shift to increasing donor participation and allocating funds raised to athletic scholarships, the Big Ten Champions Fund, the Scarlet Knights for Life ™ program, and team-specific accounts. The goal will be to grow the total donor count to R Fund on an annual basis in support of Rutgers Athletics' operating costs.
"The Bells Must Ring" captures the department and its supporters' shared goal of helping the Scarlet Knights ring the historic bells at Old Queens, a tradition reserved for celebrating the pinnacle of academic and athletic achievement at Rutgers.

Rutgers scholarships are the lifeblood of our Scarlet Knights. In order to recruit and retain the best student-athletes from around the globe, we need your support in providing them with the opportunity to receive a first-class education. Our student-athletes are pursuing excellence both in the classroom and in competition. Rutgers boasted a record 419 Academic All-Big Ten selections and 135 Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars in the 2021–2022 season, ranking in the top of the Big Ten. You can contribute to Rutgers scholarships by supporting the following areas:
RUTGERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND (RSF)
Contributions to this fund support the financial needs of our student-athletes across all 24 of our varsity sports programs. Gifts made to this fund will continue to close the gap on the Athletic Department's largest annual expense—scholarship funding. Please note that RSF seat fees related to ticket purchases are no longer tax deductible. However, your seat fee payments are critical in continuing to support student-athlete scholarships. Any gifts made to the Rutgers Scholarship Fund outside of required seat fees are tax deductible.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Donors may elect to create and fund their own named annual scholarships. Annual scholarships require a minimum investment of $30,000, which may be paid over a five-year period at $6,000 annually. Donors establishing named annual scholarships will have opportunities to interact with their scholarship recipient(s) through correspondence and at the annual Student-Athlete Scholarship Reception. They also receive all R Fund benefits with their associated scholarship gifts.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
Named endowed scholarships are an opportunity to benefit student-athletes in perpetuity. An endowed scholarship provides a consistent source of funding each year through investment of the principal. Named endowed scholarships can be created with a minimum investment of $100,000, which may be paid over a five-year period at $20,000 annually. Endowed funds provide stable, long-term financial support for Rutgers student-athletes.

This unrestricted fund provides a best-in-class student-athlete experience. The Big Ten Champions Fund nourishes the bodies and minds of our current and future Scarlet Knights by supporting sports medicine, nutrition, academic programs, travel, student-athlete recruitment, and more.
The Big Ten Champions Fund makes a direct impact on over 600 Scarlet Knight student-athletes. Gifts to this fund gives the Athletic Department the ability to provide a holistic and enhanced experience for our student-athletes and everything they need to be successful. Rutgers Scarlet Knights receive best-in-class sports medicine care through support of the Big Ten Champions Fund and the partnership with RWJBarnabas Health. Donations to this fund also provide nutrition resources from fueling stations to pregame meals for our Scarlet Knights to be able to balance their academic and athletic schedules while competing at the highest level.

The Rutgers Athletics Office for Student-Athlete Development and Success oversees the Scarlet Knights For Life™ program. This program provides community engagement opportunities and career and leadership development for all 700+ student-athletes during college, preparing them for a successful transition to life after sport. The Varsity R Letterwinners Association welcomes our newest graduates into a network that provides alumni connections and allows them to play a key role in the mentorship, development, and career placement of current student-athletes.
